A surf guide on Nusa Lembongan reads the day's tide, swell and wind, picks which of the island's four reef breaks is working, and puts you on the peak — without the coaching of a lesson. A lesson teaches you to surf — beach theory, pop-ups, and someone pushing you into waves. Guiding assumes you already surf: no coaching unless you ask for it, just local knowledge about which break to surf, where to sit, and when the tide will turn it on or off. If you cannot yet paddle into an unbroken wave and ride down the line, book a lesson instead.
Bring your own if you have it — most surfers who book guiding prefer their own board. If you are travelling without one, say so on WhatsApp and Loxy will sort a board out for you.

May to September is the dry season, when the south-east trades blow offshore in the mornings and the swell is most consistent. The island is surfable year-round, and mornings are glassiest before the sea breeze fills in.
