Private Surf Lessons
A private lesson is one instructor, one student and a session built entirely around what you need to work on. It is the fastest way to improve at any level: complete beginners get undivided attention on every wave, and intermediate surfers get targeted coaching on the technique holding them back.
What happens in a session
We start with a chat about your surfing so far and what you want from the session, then pick the spot to match your level rather than the other way around. First-timers head for the gentle peaks at Playgrounds; surfers chasing longer green waves or their first reef experience are guided to the break that suits the day’s swell and tide, including Shipwrecks when conditions line up. In the water, your instructor coaches you on every wave — wave selection, paddle timing, pop-up and line.
Video feedback
Your instructor films your waves during the session and reviews the footage with you afterwards on the beach. Watching your own take-off is worth a dozen verbal corrections; most surfers fix their biggest technique fault within a session or two once they have seen themselves on screen. The clips are yours to keep.
Who it suits
Private lessons suit nervous first-timers who want one-on-one support, travellers on a tight schedule who want maximum progress per session, and intermediate surfers stepping up to Nusa Lembongan’s faster reef waves. Sessions run for two hours and include the board, leash and rash vest.
What to bring
Swimwear, a towel, reef-safe sunscreen and drinking water. All equipment is included, and your video clips are sent to your phone the same day. Sessions run year-round — mornings are usually the cleanest in the May–September dry season.
Frequently asked
How does the video analysis work?
Your instructor films your waves during the session, then reviews the footage with you on the beach afterwards. Seeing your own take-off makes technique corrections stick far faster than verbal feedback alone.
I already surf — are private lessons still worth it?
Yes. Private sessions suit every level, from nervous first-timers to intermediate surfers working on take-offs, positioning and turns. We choose the spot to match your ability and the day’s conditions.
Can two of us share a private lesson?
Private lessons are one-on-one by default so you get the instructor’s full attention. If you would like to share a session with a friend or partner, message us on WhatsApp and we will arrange a semi-private lesson.
