Kids Surf Lessons
Our kids lessons introduce children aged 6–12 to surfing the safest way we know: soft boards, gentle waves, and one instructor in the water for every two children. Sessions run for 1.5 hours — long enough to catch plenty of waves, short enough to finish before young arms tire out.
Safety first
Safety ratios are the heart of the lesson. With one in-water instructor per two kids, every child has hands-on support on every wave. Children stay on soft-top beginner boards in waist-deep whitewater until they are popping up confidently, and every session opens with a beach briefing that turns the safety basics into a game. Kids need basic swimming ability and to be comfortable in the water — beyond that, we take care of the rest.
What happens in a lesson
We keep it playful. The pop-up is taught through beach games before anyone gets wet, then instructors push the kids into small, gentle waves one at a time, cheering every ride. Most children are standing and riding whitewater to the beach well within their first session, and confident kids graduate to slightly larger waves as the lesson goes on.
Where we surf
Kids surf the same forgiving water as our adult beginners, around Playgrounds in the channel off Jungut Batu Beach — the most protected, slow-breaking waves on Nusa Lembongan. The water is warm all year, so there are no cold kids and no wetsuits needed.
What to bring
Swimwear, a towel, reef-safe sunscreen and a water bottle. We provide the soft board, leash and rash vest, and the boat transfer to the break is included. Parents are welcome on the beach the whole time.
Frequently asked
What ages can join a kids surf lesson?
Kids lessons are designed for children aged 6–12. Teenagers aged 13 and over usually join a group lesson or book a private session instead.
How do you keep children safe in the water?
Kids lessons run with one instructor in the water for every two children — our tightest ratio. Kids ride soft beginner boards in gentle whitewater, and every session starts with a fun safety briefing on the beach.
Does my child need to be able to swim?
Yes — children need basic swimming ability and to be comfortable in the water. Instructors stay right beside them the entire session.
Can I watch my child's lesson?
Absolutely — parents are welcome on the beach for the whole session, and the boat transfer to the break is included at no extra cost.
